Woodford Folk Festival Presents: Hot Potato Band vs BULLHORN/FourWinds (IRE) & Andy Irvine (IRE)/The East Pointers (CAN)
Clash of the Sousaphones: Hot Potato Band vs BULLHORN (AUS)
The fight everyone is waiting to see! There’s no way we will be able to say that they are ‘fresh’ from a week at the Woodford Folk Festival, but Hot Potato Band (SYD) and BULLHORN (BRIS) will keep the festival stank fumes blooming in this lung-busting titanic brass bash. Gloves off, brass knuckles on in an 11 on 9 explosion of brass, drums and vocals that’s gonna keep January joyful.

Deeply rooted in the tradition, FourWinds produce an exciting landscape of tunes and lyrics that present traditional Irish music in a modern and creative context. Their influences include Planxty, Paul Brady and (special guest for their Brisbane show) Andy Irvine, Begley and Cooney, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Pink Floyd and even Elvis. The band has just been awarded the prestigious Danny Kyle Award, presented by the Celtic Connections festival board in recognition of outstanding emerging talent in Celtic music. FourWinds has also been chosen as one of three finalists in the Rising Stars Competition, held by The Gathering in Killarney, Ireland. And they were recommended to us by The East Pointers, so….. you know… get along!
