One of the most exciting additions to the Woodford Folk Festival site this year is the introduction of Chill Hill, a brand new chill out space located on the hill at the start of the road to the Amphitheatre.

Perched at the top of Chill Hill will be Sydney-based bamboo design collective Cave Urban’s latest contribution to enhancing the festival experience – the Hammock Hut.
The Hammock Hut will be a huge bamboo shade structure 10 metres high, 20 metres long and between 8 and 12 metres wide, draped in hammocks and decked out with all the cushions and comfort you’ll need to take a load off during the six day event.
With two storeys, the structure will be completely covered by woven bamboo to provide two levels of complete shade.

Cave Urban’s Jed Long and his army of 45 volunteers will be building the Hammock Hut in the coming weeks
Head of Special Projects and Cave Urban Bamboo Architect, Jed Long, says this the second of two major bamboo structures helping to create more shade in the festival precinct this year.
“As well as the Hammock Hut on Chill Hill, our other big project this year will be Shade Parade, the big shady walkway running along Sun Rise, from the Tropic to the Songlines tent,” he says.
“We’ll also be providing shady spots outside the GREENhouse, Iggy’s Bakery and the Loose Leaf Teahouse, and the Coopers Session Pods, as well as revamping the Pineapple Lounge and maintaining the existing bamboo structures.”
Chai to imagine…
While you’re relaxing in the shade high on the hill, you’ll need refreshment.
Three times a day Chill Hill will be visited by a Chai Wallah, a purveyor of tea who will carry chai up the hill to people hanging about at the top.
Iced or hot – however you like it – the delicious chai from the Loose Leaf Teahouse will add to your chill experience.
Library of the Leaves

Chill Hill will overlook Cloudland and the beautiful valley of the Grande
Also aiming to maximise your chill experience is the Library of the Leaves, which will neighbour the Hammock Hut.
The Library will be a collection of books that you’ll be able to borrow old-school style, to read while relaxing on Chill Hill, or to take anywhere in the festival for some lone bookworm time.
This will also be the location of the Book Club that is set to take place daily, for the serious wordsmiths among us – look out for more details of this in the coming days.
If you’re planning on coming to the Woodford Folk Festival this year, make sure you book your tickets online.
Please note, all tickets to the festival must be purchased before arrival. Ticket allocation will be capped this year and all vehicles will require a Vehicle Pass.
